Construction of Yashma power plant in Azerbaijan's to be funded by private investments

NOVEMBER 02, 2022

With the commissioning of the 240 MW Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Station built in Azerbaijan by Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power company, the consumption of the natural gas used for each kilowatt/hour in power stations across the country will decrease to 200 grams in total, Azerbaijani Deputy Energy Minister Elnur Soltanov said at the Green Transformation in Azerbaijan conference.

According to Soltanov, at old stations, this figure is 300 grams, and 100 grams of natural gas per year is a significant figure: "Replacing old stations with new ones requires a lot of money, and we plan to carry it out, in particular, through private investment in Yashma".

He noted that there are plans to build a new station with a capacity of 500 megawatts using the latest technologies on the territory of Yashma in Azerbaijan's northwest.
