In the first half of 2023, total electricity production in the Republic of Azerbaijan made up 13,907.9 million kWh, up 2.8% from the previous year, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov wrote on Twitter.
In January-June, the electricity production from Thermal Power Plants (TPP) amounted to 12,826.1 million kWh, and from renewable sources, including hydropower, to 1,081.8 million kWh. Some 82.4%, or 891 million kWh of electricity produced from renewable sources were generated at Hydroelectric Power Stations (SES), 126.8 million kWh at Solid Household Waste Incineration Plant owned by "Tamiz Shahar" OJSC, 32.3 million kWh at Solar Power Plants (SPP), and 31.7 million kWh at Wind Power Plants (WPP)," the minister noted.
Moreover, the country, in the reporting period, exported 1,265.2 million kWh of electricity, and imported 137.5 million kWh.
