Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Energy Samir Valiyev spoke at the ministerial panel "Regional Security" of the VI Romanian International Gas Conference in Bucharest.
He recalled that in July last year, Azerbaijan and the European Union signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a strategic partnership in the field of energy, which laid the foundation for expanding the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) and increasing natural gas supplies. The deputy minister noted that since then, intensive contacts have continued with the European Commission, international financial organizations and potential buyers in Europe to guarantee gas supplies through the expanding infrastructure.
According to the deputy minister, Azerbaijan exported 11.4 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe in 2022, and by the end of 2023 this volume will exceed 12 billion cubic meters.
