APRIL 02, 2024

The Trans-Adriatic pipeline, which is part of the Southern Gas Corridor, is a strategic infrastructure that brings gas from Azerbaijan to Europe at a time when the continent is facing significant energy supply problems, the ambassador of Greece to Azerbaijan, Christos Kapodistrias, said this at an event dedicated to the National Day of Greece in Baku.

"For more than three years, the Trans-Adriatic pipeline has been transporting natural gas from Azerbaijan through our neighbor Türkiye to Greece, Bulgaria and Italy in a stable and reliable manner," the ambassador noted.

Kapodistrias also pointed out that since the start of operations, the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline has transported more than 33.5 billion cubic meters to Greece, Bulgaria and Italy: In 2023, the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline was the 3rd largest source of natural gas supplier for Greece and accounted for 18 percent of Greece’s total natural gas imports".
