Turkmenistan expresses its readiness to significantly increase the volume of energy supplies to the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
This was stated by the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, at the meeting of heads of delegations in the SCO+ format in Astana.
"We see great prospects for joint work in the energy sector. Turkmenistan has the opportunity to significantly increase the volume of hydrocarbon raw materials and electricity supplies to the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO)," he said.
In this context, Berdimuhamedov stressed that Turkmenistan is clearly fulfilling its contractual obligations in terms of volumes and timing of natural gas supplies.
"We invite interested SCO states to consider the parameters of their participation in energy and communication projects in Afghanistan initiated by Turkmenistan. We are talking about the implementation of projects for the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, power transmission lines, and fiber-optic communication along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route," he added.
Meanwhile, the Turkmengaz State Concern of Turkmenistan estimates the nation's hydrocarbon resources at over 71 billion tons of oil equivalent. This volume includes more than 20 billion tons of oil and more than 50 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.
