The SOCAR-Uniper joint venture, a collaboration between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Germany's Uniper, is gearing up to launch a turbo generator unit at the Ethylene-Polyethylene Plant of Azerikimya Production Union, Rashad Huseynli, head of Uniper's Azerbaijan representative office, said at the Caspian Energy Forum in Baku.
The official ceremony will take place during the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, set to be held in Baku this November.
Huseynli emphasized that the project, aimed at enhancing energy efficiency, is a significant undertaking by SOCAR-Uniper for Azerikimya. "We can say that the project is already complete, and the official ceremony for the commissioning of the turbo generator unit for electricity and steam production will be held at the Ethylene-Polyethylene Plant during the COP29 conference," Huseynli stated.
According to him, the primary objective is to increase the energy efficiency and production capacity of the Steam Generator Complex, which supplies electricity to the plant. Huseynli added that SOCAR and Uniper have a long-standing successful cooperation in various areas, including the supply of natural gas from the Shah Deniz field, human resources, technological exchange, emission reduction, and energy efficiency.
