Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Energy Kamal Abbasov delivered a speech at the 26th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) held in Tehran, Iran.
During his speech, the Deputy Minister emphasized Azerbaijan's crucial role in the global energy market, owing to its abundant natural gas reserves and strategic location. He noted that Azerbaijan's natural gas is currently being imported by 12 countries, reflecting the growing demand for the country's energy resources.
Abbasov also highlighted the successes of the recently concluded COP29 conference in Baku. He touched upon the panel discussions organized by GECF during the conference, which underscored the significance of natural gas in the sustainable energy transition.
In conclusion, it was decided to hold the 27th Ministerial Meeting in Doha, the capital of Qatar in the last quarter of 2025. Azerbaijan has been participating in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum as an observer since 2015.
