Pakistan Proposes Investment in Azerbaijan’s Carbon Quota Market and Solar Energy Sector

MAY 06, 2025

Pakistan has proposed investing in Azerbaijan’s carbon quota market and solar energy sector as part of efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation in sustainable development and green energy.

The proposal was made during a meeting between officials from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy and a delegation from Pakistan, where both sides explored opportunities for climate-related collaboration and renewable energy investments.

The Pakistani side expressed interest in supporting Azerbaijan’s clean energy goals, highlighting the country’s potential in solar power development and its role in shaping a regional carbon trading mechanism. Discussions also included the possibility of joint ventures and knowledge exchange in energy transition and emissions reduction.

The initiative is in line with Azerbaijan’s ongoing preparations for hosting COP29 and its broader strategy to position itself as a leader in regional green transformation. Strengthening international partnerships in areas like carbon markets and solar energy development is key to achieving Azerbaijan’s long-term climate objectives.
