On May 20, 2025, JinkoSolar announced its partnership with HuanTai Energy (Universal Energy) to supply advanced N-type TOPCon photovoltaic modules for the 100MW Gobustan solar power project in Azerbaijan. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in Azerbaijan's renewable energy development, positioning the Gobustan project as a benchmark for new energy initiatives in the Caucasus region.
The Gobustan solar plant, located in an area characterized by extreme environmental conditions—including summer temperatures reaching up to 45°C, strong winds, sand exposure, and high salinity—will benefit from JinkoSolar's N-type TOPCon modules. These modules offer superior technical advantages, such as higher power output per watt, enhanced all-weather performance, and greater overall energy yield. With a bifaciality of up to 85%, the modules significantly improve rear-side energy conversion efficiency, potentially boosting overall energy yield by approximately 3.38% in high-albedo environments. Additionally, the modules feature an excellent temperature coefficient of -0.29%/°C and triple PID resistance, ensuring stable and efficient performance under extreme conditions.
The investment agreement for the Gobustan solar power plant was signed on April 22, 2025, between the Government of Azerbaijan and Universal Solar Azerbaijan LLC, a subsidiary of China's Universal Energy. The government has committed to providing support in areas such as tax incentives, land allocation, and grid connection to facilitate the project's implementation.
As Azerbaijan's first internationally tendered solar project, the Gobustan plant is expected to generate approximately 180 million kWh of electricity annually, supplying clean energy to around 50,000 households and reducing CO₂ emissions by approximately 146,500 tons each year. This project aligns with Azerbaijan's goal of achieving a 30% share of renewable energy by 2030 and exemplifies the synergy between China's intelligent manufacturing and global market demand.
