Türkiye’s First Licensed Floating Solar Power Plant Becomes Operational

MAY 27, 2025

Türkiye has officially launched its first licensed floating solar power plant – the OVA Hybrid Solar Power Project. Developed by OVA Enerji, a subsidiary of Erdem Holding, the project was successfully completed following approval from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye.

The OVA Hybrid Solar Power Plant features a 2 MW floating solar energy system installed on the Sakarya River, operating as an auxiliary source to the existing 13.5 MW OVA Hydroelectric Power Plant. This innovative hybrid setup not only enhances renewable energy generation but also contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing evaporation from the water surface.

The project’s engineering and technical oversight were managed by SUSOL Enerji and RAMIRA Enerji, with installation carried out by Tegnatia EPC Solutions. The plant stands out for its technical excellence, integrated design, and pioneering role in Türkiye’s advancement toward hybrid renewable energy systems.

This development highlights Türkiye’s commitment to clean energy innovation and strengthens its position as a regional leader in floating solar technologies.
