A meeting between representatives of Azerbaijan and Germany was recently held in Baku to advance cooperation in the field of renewable energy and green transition. As part of the discussions, Azerbaijani Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov met with Michael Harms, Executive Director of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations (Ost-Ausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft).
The German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan) stated that the meeting built on earlier engagements between Azerbaijani officials and German energy sector leaders, reflecting shared priorities in implementing national and regional energy strategies.
The dialogue focused on enhancing technological collaboration, launching joint projects in the renewable energy sector, and adapting sustainable energy solutions locally. Both sides emphasized the importance of experience sharing and knowledge exchange as part of a long-term partnership.
AHK Azerbaijan also highlighted Germany’s potential to contribute to the creation of an innovation hub for green energy in Azerbaijan.
As part of its broader energy strategy, Azerbaijan aims to significantly expand its renewable energy capacity and reduce dependency on fossil fuels. The ongoing dialogue with Germany reflects a mutual interest in promoting green technologies and fostering sustainable development.
