Azerbaijan is open to fostering cooperation with Mexico in the fields of green energy and the energy transition, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Mexico Mammad Talibov stated during an interview with Canal6 TV.
Ambassador Talibov emphasized Azerbaijan’s leadership in the region regarding the shift to environmentally sustainable energy and its commitment to global climate goals. “Azerbaijan plays a leading role in advancing eco-friendly energy solutions and actively contributes to international efforts to combat climate change,” he noted.
The Ambassador highlighted that Azerbaijan has already begun exporting green electricity to Europe and possesses considerable potential in renewable energy development, particularly in solar and wind power.
“The wind energy potential alone is estimated at 146 gigawatts, which is a remarkable figure. We are implementing numerous projects in collaboration with various international partners,” he added.
While no joint initiatives have yet been launched between Azerbaijan and Mexico, Talibov confirmed that efforts are underway to explore opportunities. “Of course, Azerbaijan is fully prepared to cooperate with Mexico in advancing green energy and supporting the global energy transition,” the Ambassador concluded.
