JUNE 20, 2025

The Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan held a meeting with BP to review the status of current energy projects and explore the implementation of the green energy corridor and energy interconnectors, Report informs, citing the ministry.

The meeting was attended by Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and a delegation led by BP CEO Murray Auchincloss. Discussions centered on ongoing collaboration in both the oil and gas sector and the growing field of renewable energy.

Both parties expressed satisfaction with the long-standing partnership and emphasized the strategic importance of integrating diverse energy sources to support energy security, environmental protection, and sustainability. It was noted that Azerbaijan serves as a model for successful energy cooperation, and the partnership that began in the hydrocarbon sector is now continuing with the Shafag Solar Power Plant, a significant renewable energy initiative.

The two sides also exchanged views on global energy market trends and the evolving dynamics of the energy transition.

During the meeting, support was extended to Giovanni Cristofoli, the newly appointed BP regional president for Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye, who participated as part of the delegation. His future role in further advancing the partnership was welcomed by both sides.
