EU Launches €3M Technical Assistance Initiative to Support Hydrogen Sector Growth in Türkiye

JUNE 23, 2025

The European Union has initiated a €3 million technical assistance project designed to accelerate the development of a green and low-carbon hydrogen ecosystem in Türkiye, with state-owned energy giant BOTAS (Turkish Petroleum Pipeline Corporation) identified as the primary beneficiary.

Titled “Boosting Green and Low-Carbon Hydrogen in Türkiye,” the initiative aims to bolster institutional capacity and enhance technical expertise in the country’s emerging hydrogen sector.

As part of the project, a comprehensive technical assessment of BOTAS’ existing infrastructure will be carried out to evaluate its compatibility with hydrogen technologies. In addition, the project will support the creation of a strategic Hydrogen Master Network Plan covering the entire country, alongside wide-ranging capacity-building programs for key stakeholders in the energy sector.

The tendering process for project implementation is being coordinated by the European Commission’s Neighbourhood East & Türkiye Unit (ENEST.C). Interested applicants can submit proposals electronically in English, with the deadline set for July 15.
