Slovenia views Azerbaijan as a vital partner in diversifying energy sources, bolstering energy security, and advancing green transition objectives, Slovenia’s Minister of Environment, Climate and Energy Bojan Kumer stated during talks with Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, Report informs.
“This meeting continues the robust political dialogue between our nations,” Kumer said. “We focused on critical priorities for our shared future—ensuring a stable natural gas supply, fostering long-term energy cooperation, and above all, promoting renewable energy development. I am confident that by jointly understanding the challenges and opportunities ahead, we can shape a sustainable energy future together.”
Azerbaijan currently supplies natural gas to 12 countries, including 10 in Europe, as well as Türkiye and Georgia. Slovenia is among the European nations receiving Azerbaijani gas.
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) began delivering gas to Slovenia on August 1, 2024. This follows a memorandum of understanding signed on July 17 between SOCAR and Slovenia’s leading gas supplier, Geoplin, aimed at deepening collaboration in the gas sector.
