Work has officially begun on what will become Azerbaijan’s largest solar power facility, as the first solar panel mount was installed today in the Bilasuvar district, marking the formal launch of the project. With a planned capacity of 445 megawatts, the plant is expected to play a vital role in boosting regional energy capacity and promoting the wider adoption of renewable energy in the country.
The groundbreaking event was attended by key stakeholders, including Faig Gurbatov, Head of the Bilasuvar District Executive Authority; Murad Sadikhov, Director of Masdar’s Azerbaijan office; and project representatives from China Energy Development. During the ceremony, officials highlighted the project’s role in delivering clean electricity and advancing the region’s sustainability goals.
Representatives of the partner organizations provided insights into the project’s scope and significance. The event concluded with a symbolic signing of the inaugural solar panel mount by Gurbatov and Sadikhov, officially launching the construction phase.
