During a high-level trilateral summit in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed enhanced cooperation between Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan in the field of energy, with a particular focus on joint geological exploration and offshore field development in the Caspian Sea.
The proposal was made in a meeting attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan.
President Mirziyoyev highlighted the importance of expanding ferry infrastructure for cargo transport across the Caspian, aligning with Uzbekistan’s broader transport and logistics ambitions.
The leaders also discussed the need for closer collaboration to ensure regional energy security and to establish new export corridors for energy resources. The Uzbek side underlined the potential of green energy exports to Europe, while also encouraging joint efforts in developing traditional hydrocarbon fields offshore in the Caspian basin.
Uzbekistan’s presidential press service emphasized that such initiatives would support strategic goals in diversifying energy routes and tapping into new opportunities for trilateral cooperation.
