As of July 1, the Soyugbulag Small Hydropower Plant (HPP), located on the Tartar River in Azerbaijan’s Kalbajar district, has generated more than 42 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity since its launch.
Commissioned on August 25, 2023, the facility is a high-pressure, derivation-type power station with a total installed capacity of 5.3 megawatts (MW). It operates with two hydro units, each rated at 2.65 MW.
The plant contributes to Azerbaijan’s growing renewable energy output and supports the government’s initiative to transform liberated territories like Kalbajar into clean energy hubs.
