Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan are set to initiate the selection of a consulting firm to develop a feasibility study for the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan green energy corridor project, announced Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov at the inaugural Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2025) in Baku, as reported by Day.Az.
Shahbazov highlighted that this initiative marks the first effort to integrate the power grids of the three nations, paving the way for the Trans-Caspian Energy Corridor. This project aims to position Central Asia and the South Caucasus as leading regions in the global transition to sustainable energy. “Our collaboration with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in green energy is comprehensive, focused on creating a unified regional platform,” he stated.
The foundation for this cooperation was laid during COP29 in Baku in 2024, where the leaders of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan signed an intergovernmental agreement on strategic green energy partnerships. The agreement also secured Saudi Arabia’s participation as an investor. Subsequently, the Green Corridor Alliance joint venture was established, with its headquarters in Baku.
Shahbazov noted that a tender to select a consulting firm for the project’s technical-economic feasibility study (FEED) will be launched next month, with work expected to begin by year-end. The process will be supported financially by the Asian Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
