Azerbaijan is leveraging Zangilan’s rich hydropower resources to advance its clean energy goals, with four hydroelectric power plants, totaling 42 megawatts, already powering the entire city, according to Vahid Hajiyev, the President’s special representative for the Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan districts. Speaking on the second day of the 3rd National Urban Forum of Azerbaijan (NUFA3), as cited by Report, Hajiyev outlined plans to further expand hydropower development in the region.
He emphasized Azerbaijan’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a focus on renewable energy, particularly hydropower, in Zangilan. “With its many rivers, Zangilan offers significant potential, and we are maximizing their use. The four plants we’ve built fully meet the city’s energy needs, and we will continue to develop this sector,” Hajiyev stated.
