OCTOBER 22, 2025

During a press briefing with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced plans to significantly expand oil transit volumes through the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, as reported by Report. Highlighting the strong energy partnership between the two nations, Tokayev noted that nearly 1.5 million tons of Kazakh oil were transported via the BTC route in 2024, with intentions to substantially increase this amount in the near future.

Tokayev also emphasized the potential of a deep-water power cable project to enhance both countries’ national energy systems and bolster their roles in exporting green energy. He further acknowledged ongoing efforts to supply Kazakh uranium products to global markets through Azerbaijan, expressing gratitude to President Aliyev for supporting key bilateral initiatives. Previous reports have indicated Kazakhstan’s goal to scale up oil transit through the BTC pipeline to 7 million tons annually.
