Ukraine is actively negotiating a long-term natural gas supply agreement with Azerbaijan, Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Yuriy Husyev revealed in an interview with Report.
“We are in discussions and aim to strengthen energy collaboration between our nations,” Husyev stated. He confirmed that the first contract for Azerbaijani gas deliveries via the Trans-Balkan corridor has already been signed.
The ambassador expressed optimism for expanded cooperation in energy, trade, humanitarian efforts, and education, emphasizing shared goals in energy independence and efficiency across Central and Eastern Europe—areas of mutual interest for Azerbaijan.
Husyev also expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s humanitarian support, including critical electrical equipment supplies. “We deeply value this assistance and look forward to continued partnership,” he added.
In July 2025, Ukraine’s Naftogaz Group signed its inaugural gas purchase agreement with SOCAR Energy Ukraine, a SOCAR subsidiary.
