A meeting was held at the Ministry of Energy with the participation of representatives from the Working Group on the Implementation of Azerbaijan's National Hydrogen Strategy and Germany's “DNV Energy Systems Germany GmbH” company.
According to the Ministry, Deputy Energy Minister Elnur Soltanov emphasized that Azerbaijan possesses significant potential for hydrogen production. It was noted that, within the first phase of the project “Preparation of Azerbaijan's National Hydrogen Strategy and its Implementation Plan,” with technical support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the document “National Strategic Vision on Hydrogen” was prepared and presented within the framework of COP29.
Based on the results of the tender conducted with the support of the EBRD for the implementation of the second phase of the project, “DNV Energy Systems Germany GmbH” was selected as the winner. The company will prepare the Implementation Plan for the National Hydrogen Strategy in the first half of the current year.
During the meeting, Ilka Lewington, representative of “DNV Energy Systems Germany GmbH,” delivered a presentation on the implementation of Azerbaijan's National Hydrogen Strategy. Discussions were held on legal and other issues related to hydrogen production, priority directions for the next phase were identified, and specific targets and tasks were agreed upon for the Working Group.
It should be noted that “DNV Energy Systems Germany GmbH” is a German subsidiary of the well-known Norwegian company DNV.
