ADB is ready to support new renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan

APRIL 10, 2026

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) states that it is ready to support the implementation of projects in the field of renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan.

This was announced by Sunniya Durrani-Jamal, Head of ADB’s Representative Office in Azerbaijan, while responding to a question from “Report” during a briefing dedicated to the April edition of the “Asian Development Outlook” (ADO) report.

She emphasized that Europe is strongly interested in reducing its dependence on hydrocarbons:

“For this reason, there is a growing focus on renewable energy sources. Azerbaijan is also making significant investments in the development of solar energy. We have already invested in three major projects in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy through our private sector operations. In the future, we are also considering opportunities to participate in the development of wind energy from an energy security perspective — this area has great potential. I believe the outlook is quite promising. In other words, the country possesses both traditional fuel resources and rich renewable energy potential. From the standpoint of Europe’s energy security, Azerbaijan holds a very favorable position. However, this will require additional investment, and we are here to support the government in this regard.
