Germany and Azerbaijan are preparing projects, including in the field of green hydrogen, to expand their cooperation, Report informs, citing German Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ralf Horlemann.
According to him, energy cooperation between the two countries is actively growing, covering not only traditional areas but also new segments related to the transition to renewable energy sources.
Horlemann noted that three German energy companies have started purchasing Azerbaijani gas, which is a very positive development in cooperation.
“On the other hand, SOCAR Green’s new division dealing with renewable energy has found a very strong partner in Germany. New cooperation projects are already being prepared, including in the field of green hydrogen,” he said.
According to the ambassador, special attention is paid to green hydrogen. This field is seen as a key element of Europe’s future energy transformation within the framework of policies aimed at reducing CO₂ emissions and gradually replacing natural gas with cleaner energy sources.
Horlemann also emphasised that economic cooperation between Germany and Azerbaijan remains active, with a significant part of projects implemented through the private sector, universities, and business structures, including joint education and investment initiatives. “Germany will work actively not only in Baku but across the entire territory of Azerbaijan. Representatives of the German side are visiting cities and regions of the country, thereby deepening bilateral relations, including economic ties, through close cooperation with various organisations.”
