In January–May of this year, Georgia imported 55,601 tonnes of oil and petroleum oils from Azerbaijan worth $52.6 million, Report informs, based on calculations from Georgia's National Statistics Office.
This is four times more in value terms and three times more in quantity compared to the same period in 2025.
As a result, Azerbaijan ranks fourth among the countries from which Georgia imports oil and petroleum oils.
In the first five months of 2026, Georgia imported 737,826 tonnes of oil and petroleum oils worth $635.5 million from foreign countries, which represents increases of 28% and 11%, respectively, compared to the same period a year earlier.
During the reporting period, Georgia imported oil and petroleum oils worth $220 million (309.4 thousand tonnes) from Russia, $84.4 million (67.3 thousand tonnes) from Turkey, $61.5 million (77.4 thousand tonnes) from Romania, and $44.1 million (50 thousand tonnes) from Bulgaria.
In 2025, Georgia imported 1.8 million tonnes of oil and petroleum oils worth $1.4 billion from abroad, of which Azerbaijan's share was 172 thousand tonnes valued at $118 million.
