Azerbaijan plans to put two new green energy corridors into operation starting in 2032, the country's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov announced during his speech at Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026), Report informs.
Shahbazov highlighted that one of Azerbaijan's strategic priorities is to deliver green energy to international markets through regional and interregional connections.
"The feasibility study of the Caspian–Black Sea–Europe Green Energy Corridor, with a total capacity of 3,900 MW, has confirmed the project's viability. From 2032, both the first phase of this corridor and the Central Asia–Azerbaijan Green Energy Link are expected to be commissioned," he said.
The minister also pointed out that concrete steps are being taken to develop new corridors to Türkiye and Europe via Georgia, the Zangazur corridor, and Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan region:
"The diversified energy connections we are building will strengthen interregional energy security and contribute to emission reductions across a wide geography beyond Azerbaijan's borders."
Shahbazov added that as the world moves toward COP31 in Türkiye, where clean energy transition and electrification will be key priorities, Azerbaijan will continue to transform its energy transition agenda into concrete projects, regional links, and real emission reductions, building on the legacy of COP29.
"We believe the energy system of the future must be not only greener but also safer, more flexible, and more resilient," he noted.
