OCTOBER 07, 2026

The gas agreement signed between Azerbaijan and Georgia provides the country with security in terms of gas volumes and pricing for the next 20 years.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze made the remarks during a government meeting.

The Prime Minister emphasized that strengthening economic ties with neighboring countries is of major importance for Georgia. In this context, he highlighted the particular significance of the agreements reached with Azerbaijan.

Kobakhidze said the agreement signed with Azerbaijan guarantees Georgia stable gas supply volumes and more favorable prices over a 20-year period.

He also stressed the importance of importing electricity from Azerbaijan without intermediaries. According to the Prime Minister, eliminating intermediaries will help reduce the Georgian government’s expenses and could generate several million in annual revenue for the state through this mechanism alone.

Kobakhidze also described the agreement with Azerbaijan on the joint operation of the Baku–Tbilisi–Supsa pipeline and the Supsa terminal as an important development.

The Prime Minister said that the agreements reached with Azerbaijan are of strategic importance to Georgia and thanked the Azerbaijani side for its cooperation and friendly relations.

Kobakhidze also noted that Georgia maintains strong economic relations with Armenia and Türkiye.
