SOCAR opens its 100th filling station in Romania

OCTOBER 30, 2026

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has opened its 100th filling station operating under the SOCAR brand in Romania.

The new station has started operations in the city of Galati, located in eastern Romania on the banks of the Danube River and regarded as an important economic and cultural center of the region.

Speaking at the official opening ceremony, SOCAR Vice President Anar Mammadov said that when the company opened its first SOCAR-branded filling station in Romania 15 years ago, its key objectives were to build a strong brand, provide high-quality products and services, and earn customers’ trust.

He noted that Romania holds a special place in SOCAR’s strategy, adding that it is one of the first European Union countries where SOCAR invested under its own brand. According to Mammadov, the company’s presence and expansion in the Romanian market reflect its confidence in the country’s economy, business environment and people.

Ramin Aliyev, CEO of SOCAR Petroleum SA, described the opening of the 100th filling station as an important milestone for the company. He said SOCAR aims to strengthen its position in the Romanian market and increase its market share in the coming years.

Aliyev added that investments in logistics infrastructure, including fuel storage facilities, help ensure uninterrupted supplies to the company’s filling stations and the continuous delivery of fuel. He also noted that the ability to source fuel directly from the producer allows SOCAR to offer products combining high quality and performance.

Like other SOCAR-branded filling stations, the new facility offers “Nano 95” and “Nano 98” gasoline, as well as “Nano Diesel” and “Nano Super Diesel.” The “Nar” café at the station also offers locally produced goods and products imported from Azerbaijan.

As part of efforts to promote the “Made in Azerbaijan” brand, Azerbaijani corners have been established at SOCAR stations across Romania. In addition, monitors installed at the company’s stations regularly display videos promoting Azerbaijan.

SOCAR operates in Romania through SOCAR Petroleum SA, established in 2011. In 2025, the company recorded a turnover of 3.9 billion lei (approximately EUR 750 million), representing a 9.7% increase compared with the previous year.

The company currently operates three fuel storage depots across Romania. To date, SOCAR has invested 400 million lei (approximately EUR 78.4 million) in the Romanian economy.
